Well if you are good enough you wouldnt have to worry about damaging your instrument if you know how to do it right. As with the trumpets we tie some values to make sure they dont slide off while you are spinning. Ive known for awhile the tubas can spin and its a wonderful thing. I will quote the late Larry Jackson(lol Razz j/k) but I am sure he said something along the lines of maxing out of potenial, personaly I havent noticed many other high school bands spinning their tubas or trumpets. We should use this as a visual affect, its different and if we can get it looking good couldnt that earn us some points?

It's a question of artistic merit....at least, the way I see it.

obviously dan doesn't appreciate the artistic merit cause he's just jealous that the baritones could never effectively figure out how it's done.

Theoretically, any instrument can be "spun". The difference, however, is how safe it is to spin said instrument.

Trumpets are very safe to spin, you just have to tie everything that may fall off with fishing line. If you drop it, its is because you let it go. By now the trumpets have been spinning for awhile and there has been no injuries and no broken horns from spinning, and we have been doing band for about a month now so I guess you could say that the trumpets have the spinning done. Not only that most of us have been doing it since our freshman year.

On the spinning issue:

a. I don't really want to see it during rehearsal; it is a distraction and basically says "I am not paying attention".

b. If I see any school horns (esp. Tubas) being spun, it could get ugly for the spinner. Honestly guys, I have literally spent thousands of dollars keeping those horns working...they will not take the torque and will break, esp,. Tubas. They break now just by staring at them too hard...

c. Spinning is not really an effect that's cool....its pretty much dumb. Sorry Trumpets....but I do think YOU are cool Very Happy (and Josh is the best student assistant in the school sunny )

This is the end of the spinning "dialogue". Thank you for your patronage.

Mr. J

right... I think that tubas can spin, Dan is paraniod, Chris needs to stop pointlessly making fun of the director and Jackson is the only one with any sense at all... Until Dan is there running rehersal.
