first off.. that's lame, and second, the video has been sped up! so it's not all that hard really.

I dont care if it was sped up that still looks pretty cool. Its kind of like the whole trumpet section spinning their trumpets at once!

All my trumpets can spin except Marcy. Its not really that hard with gloves on. If you dont have gloves on it eats away your finger and that hurts after awhile. But spinning our trumpet has been our the "trumpet thing" ever since I have been there so its kind of cool that I am passing it down the line. Shane can do it very well. Last year we spun during the show that was awesome, it would be cool to do it again.

I don't think the video was sped up at all. Check out the one player who stays bent over while he/she is picking something up. His/her movements don't look to be faster than normal. But it's a cool routine....for a college marching band....and we ALL know what I think about college marching bands. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

it looked sped up because of their head bobbing in the beginning, but now that i look again, i guess it isn't. it's still lame haha

Not that I care to join in the fray of this "lively" discussion..but

1. The routine I did in my 10th grade year of H.S. (on trumpet of course) and we did while wearing busbees (the big hats)!!! I think somebody got knocked out cold once in rehearsal... it was cool but the idea is very OLD(I would prefer to not mention the year i was in 10th grade, but most of you were not alive)

2. College bands do blow for the most part

3. the video is not sped up

4. They are probably doing it cleaner than Capital Regiment would do it lol!

I hope that ends this lively discussion

cheers

Mr. J

True, You got me there... but

the bandettes introduced many firsts to the marching activity including hashs, drums, and horns....not to be taken for granted in their importance..

and of course I only lasted a day in the corp after the infamous "showergate' episode... Shocked Embarassed geek

Well, for the purposes of futility, are not most of the discussions on the majority of forums pointless in nature??

PostSubject: Re: Crazy Trombones!   Crazy Trombones! EmptySun Aug 26, 2007 5:57 pm

Here is the final word on "instrument spinning"...

1.) It is an effect only. And it is used only when that effect is desired.

2.) Keeping the "spinning" to a minimum during rehearsal would be beneficial. It is a distraction and it says that you aren't paying attention to what's happening during the rehearsal.

3.) The trumpet section are using their own personal instruments. Therefore, any damage sustained by the horn during the spinning is solely their responsibility. Tubas, on the other hand, are owned by the school. That being said, I guarantee the tuba players do not want to be responsible for any damage done to the tubas. There are banged up enough as it is...not to mention that repairs on a tuba are extremely expensive.

There it is. Any further on-the-field discussion about the instrument spinning should be referred back to this lovely reply. Have a good day! Very Happy

haha I showed them how.. anyway, I agree with dan.. everyone should be standing at rest in between sets, listening to the "box" or waiting for on field comments. What a Face
